Obstacles

Obstacles

Suhaan , my seven years old grandson,

Shared a secret one day.

"Nani.. Do you know obstacles?

"Noooooo....."

"Problem..Nani.. problem!" was the hushed reply

"Ohhhhhhhh......" I nodded

There are three obstacles in my life

"And they are...?" I was all ears

He looked around furtively

And poured his heart out-----

"My Papa is the first Obstacle;

For he scolds me oft.

Siddh bhaiya, my second Obstacle;

Who ' shut up' me all the time.

My teacher is my third obstacles;

Makes me stand when homework not done."

Oh that's really bad!" I sympathised.

"Do you have obstacles?"

He asked with a pout.

And I quizzed,"O.B.S.T.A.C.L.E.S.......?

Puente

PUENTE

What flower is to the bee,

The bee to it's hive;

Working day and night;

Trickling golden nectar.

~ How satiating is my lemon honey tea ~

What comedy is to the laughter,

Laughter to the heart;8

Quenching every soul;

Like heavenly ambrosia.

Day 28 ( Napowrimo )

MINE

Perched on of a sunshed , a tiny little space,

Upon a twiggy scrambled nest ;

Mother pigeon firmly squats,

holding fledglings under ,its

warm and caring fold.

Not once out of sight

Lest be an easy bait

She feeds the babies beak to beak

Assuring patting with her wings

Fear not my darlings...

my little ones...

You are mine...

shall always...

and forever...

Will remain...

Only

mine.

Mistaken Identity

Mistaken Identity

'Hi' came an sms late one night,

'who's that?' unable to recall, I responded.

'Raj' came from the other side.

' Oh back from abroad?' enquired with delight.

'I was here only,' was the reply.

'Raj, my friend's husband is sure playing a prank,

With this thought, dialled the number that flashed.

It was snapped shut the next second.

'let's carry on with sms,' was repeated.

At this instant the doubt crept in.

Was it a prank played intentionally?

Or, from my side a mistaken identity?

For instantly I switched the phone off

Putting an end to the sms chat

What a fool I was, chidded myself

To carry on chat with a stranger like that.

Mirror Mirror on the wall

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL

Today, I stood face to face deeply sulking,

My reflection in the mirror seemed to say,

Threadbare every emotion I see so clear;

Your sulkings , blaming others, are

nothing but your inner turmoil.....for

what is inside surely reflects outside.

Then why crib that surroundings are bad?

My inner soul then spoke, reflecting out of mirror

"Listen my dear...The philosophy of life

Your sufferings are your own

karmic blueprints from the past.

Accept them, challenge them, like a bright sun;

Give hope, joy , peace to self and others,

Then see the smile dancing in every cell;

Your behaviour, attitudes are the yard stick,

To let your surrounding sparkle...

Or dip in the dark pensive cesspool.

So first make amends, then see the environ sparkle,

In the oceanic light of love ,let compassion flow,

like a Midas touch!

Only then, come stand in front of me and ask,

Mirror mirror on the wall....

I think you under stood it all.

Mind Body and heart

Mind body and heart

Tussles of mind body and heart

Each dictating its own thought

Seek and follow a different path

The end goal remains same for all

To print something refreshing and new

The heavy pour and retrieving cold wave

Clogs flogs and freezes the thought

Wrapped in quilts, the body seeks warmth

And the mind jigs on hey diddle diddle.

Heart too relaxes, rushing thoughts take a pause

And mind in sync with cuddling warmth retires

Then drooping eyelids filled with slumber deep

Now poetry will release itself in dreams.

Laughter

Laughter (A chance meet)

Two women meet each other, suddenly

years later, in an exhibition;

Embracing each other with roaring laughter,

shedding tears of joy and spirits high .

Celebrations took charge , with bailley rounds,

Rejoicing the chance meet with a hearty chat .

Time took on wings and transported them

Into the house they entered , as young brides,

a home of their marital bliss .

" You remember ? " chirped Minna.

"That day , oh what a coincidence . . .

We both were at recieving ends, and

Our husbands howling in pain . . . Oh !

It all happened the same day. "

A cloud burst of laughter filled the air .

" Well it was not my fault , " explained the other.

" I resisted , he insisted, so had to apply heat;

To his aching back, with a warm iron .

Towel placed on his back , the foment

at first was soothing for some minutes.

Suddenly he jumped, rolled to the other bedside.

And imagine the radio that very instant singing. . .

The house on fire . . . the house on fire

Poor soul ! A wee bit of iron did touch his side ,I admit ;

What could I do for I was just a young bride"

Another peal of laughter rant the air.

Now listen to my story,Neelum dear!

" My hubby was suffering from an earache.

Requested me to pour some oil in his ear.

I resisted , he persisted, so had to concede.

The oil , little more than lukewarm , I did pour;

He let out such a long wail, I nearly fainted.

What could I do , for I was a young bride too. . .

Best was, both enquiring each others plight,

patting each other. . . Friend, take it in a stride"

The room rant again with peal of laughter.

In walked the hubbies, joining the banter;

Reflexly one touching his back and other the ear .

Joining their better halves , for more to hear ...

Krishna's Paradise

Krishna's Paradise!

Yesterday night

Stress, strife, turmoil

Struck me hard;

Heavy head

Tossing and turning

For no rhyme or reason

Sleep deprived me

At every implore.

A glass of water,

Flipping the pages,

Of books, magazines;

Diverting the mind,

With something to read;

Yet sleep refused

its refuge unto me.

A little chanting,

A little munching,

Appeasing the mind,

looked for reason,

All possible Manouveres;

But everything failed me.

Finally Chaurasia's flute recital,

Very akin to Krishna's divine song,

Came to my rescue.

In that moment something transpired;

Flowing on the notes of the flute,

I lay in Krishna's refuge like a child;

Stroking my head with that gentle loving smile,

placed my head on his cosy pillow;

I smiled at him, shut my eyes,

sleep took charge of me.

Opening the door ,

to the other realms

Of Krishna's Paradise.
